General

What is Guard Email?

Guard Email is a Gmail add-on that creates private email aliases which forward to your Gmail inbox. Instead of giving websites your real email address, you give them an alias. This protects your real email from spam, data breaches, and unwanted tracking.

How does it work?

When you create an alias (e.g. shopping@m.guardemail.com), any email sent to that address is automatically forwarded to your Gmail inbox. You can create, disable, or delete aliases at any time from within Gmail.

Is Guard Email free?

Yes. The free plan includes 5 email aliases with standard delivery speed. For unlimited aliases, custom aliases, and priority delivery, you can upgrade to Pro.

What email domain do aliases use?

All aliases use the domain m.guardemail.com. For example: yourname@m.guardemail.com.

Privacy & Security

Do you read my emails?

No. Guard Email forwards emails to your inbox without reading, storing, or analyzing their content. We only process the minimum metadata needed to route the email to your Gmail account.

Do you sell my data?

Never. We do not sell, share, or monetize user data in any way. You are the customer, not the product. See our privacy policy for details.

Where is my data stored?

Our infrastructure is hosted in the EU. We comply with GDPR and Dutch privacy law. We store only the minimum data needed to operate: your email address, alias list, and subscription status.

Is Guard Email GDPR compliant?

Yes. We are based in the Netherlands and fully comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can request data deletion at any time by contacting support@guardemail.com.

What Google permissions does Guard Email need?

Guard Email requests the minimum permissions required to operate. We need access to your Gmail account to forward emails from your aliases to your inbox. We adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Using Guard Email

How do I create an alias?

Open the Guard Email panel in your Gmail sidebar, click Create Alias, and your new alias is ready to use immediately.

Can I choose my own alias name?

Yes, with a Pro subscription. Free users get randomly generated aliases. Pro users can create custom aliases like newsletters@m.guardemail.com.

How fast are emails forwarded?

Most emails arrive within 30 seconds. Pro subscribers get priority delivery for faster forwarding.

Can I disable an alias without deleting it?

Yes. Disabling an alias temporarily stops forwarding. You can re-enable it at any time. This is useful for aliases you might want to use again later.

Can I delete an alias?

Yes, but alias deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, emails sent to that alias will bounce.

Can I reply to emails received through an alias?

You can receive emails through your aliases. When replying, the reply will be sent from your real Gmail address.

Is there a limit on how many emails I can receive?

There is no practical limit on the number of emails forwarded through your aliases.

Should I use aliases for important accounts?

We recommend using your real email for banking, government services, and other critical accounts. While we maintain high uptime, no service can guarantee 100% availability. Use aliases for shopping, newsletters, sign-ups, and other non-critical use cases.

Billing & Plans

What plans are available?

We offer two plans: Free (5 aliases, standard delivery) and Pro (unlimited aliases, custom aliases, priority delivery, priority support). See pricing for details.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from within the add-on. Your subscription remains active until the end of your billing period and your card will not be charged again.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you're not satisfied, you can get a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Email support@guardemail.com to request a refund.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and PayPal through our payment processor Stripe.

Troubleshooting

I'm not receiving forwarded emails

Check the following:

  1. Make sure the alias is enabled (not disabled) in your Guard Email panel
  2. Check your spam folder — forwarded emails may occasionally be flagged
  3. Wait a few minutes — there can be a slight delay in forwarding
  4. If the issue persists, contact support@guardemail.com

Forwarded emails are going to spam

Gmail may occasionally flag forwarded emails as spam. To prevent this, create a Gmail filter:

  1. In Gmail, click the search bar at the top and then click Show search options (the icon on the right)
  2. In the From field, enter @guardemail.com
  3. Click Create filter
  4. Check Never send it to Spam
  5. Click Create filter

This ensures all emails forwarded through your Guard Email aliases land in your inbox.

The add-on is not showing in Gmail

Try the following:

  1. Refresh your Gmail page
  2. Make sure you're logged into the correct Google account
  3. Check that the add-on is installed in the Google Workspace Marketplace
  4. Try clearing your browser cache and reloading Gmail

I accidentally deleted an alias

Unfortunately, alias deletion is permanent. You'll need to create a new alias and update it wherever the old one was used.
